As the festive season inches closer, the decorations, food, and beverages need to be perfect! The guests pour in and you need to figure out ways to keep them entertained and fed. Usually, we offer them tea, coffee or soft drinks. But there's always one—or more—person going, "Oh, no, sorry, I don't drink tea." That throws quite the wrench in your carefully laid plans! Now how do you take care of this guest?
Milk is a universal ingredient—you can put it in desserts and savoury dishes. Having milk recipes handy for moments like this will keep the party going!
One of those exciting recipes using milk is Spiced Milk. Using common ingredients around the kitchen (with a few festive ones), you can whip up this low-fat milk recipe in batches the night before or make it on the spot! It only takes about a couple of minutes to prep and 15 minutes to cook (we insist you make it the night before to make your life a little easier).
Additionally, this is one of those recipes that you can whip up in smaller quantities—serving only one. Drinking this warm is not only a hug in a cup, but it's also good for you! You get antioxidants from the spices and anti-inflammatory effects from the ginger. Who doesn't love a delicious drink that has benefits for you?
For the times guests don't like tea or the weather calls for a pick-me-up, make this delicious recipe!
Besides the Keventer milk, add the remaining ingredients to a medium-sized saucepan. Cover the saucepan and reduce the heat when it comes to a boil. Let this simmer for 5-10 minutes. You can adjust the simmering time according to your preference. If you want it strong, let it simmer for the full 10 minutes.
Now, add the milk and let it simmer for 5 more minutes.
Finally, turn the heat off and strain this delicious spiced concoction.
Garnish with a few saffron strands and you’re done! You can serve this warm or cold.
